Exemption from Customs Duty and VAT for Power Equipment Sent to Ukraine

Send power equipment to Ukraine – easily and conveniently with Meest Post!

As of July 27, 2024, Ukraine has implemented regulations that exempt certain electric power management devices from customs duties and VAT. This is an important step toward rebuilding and securing the country’s energy infrastructure amid the ongoing Russian aggression.

Learn more about the exemptions and see which products are covered!

Which devices are eligible for the exemption?

Ukraine’s exemption applies to a wide range of energy-related equipment, including:

  • Power stations such as EcoFlow and Bluetti

  • Power generators

  • Electric power generation devices

  • Wind and solar energy devices, including:

    • Turbines

    • Motors

    • Transformers

    • Batteries

    • Inverters

    • Lithium-ion batteries and related charging stations over 300W

    • Solar panels

The customs and tax exemption primarily applies to larger energy systems and components. For example, batteries and charging stations under 300W are not exempt and remain subject to standard import duties and VAT.

These limitations are intended to focus on key energy infrastructure components that have the greatest impact on Ukraine’s energy recovery and stability. The national grid has suffered serious damage due to the Russian invasion. Before the war, Ukraine had about 40 GW of generation capacity; by the end of May 2024, only around 10 GW remained. Attacks on strategic infrastructure—such as power plants and hospitals—have significantly deepened the energy crisis.

In general, shipments to Ukraine are subject to a €150 value limit. This means parcels sent to a single recipient on the same day, with a declared value below this amount, qualify for the customs and VAT exemption. If the declared value exceeds this limit, fees are charged on the amount above €150.

However, this rule does not apply to shipments of EcoFlow, Bluetti, inverters, or voltage stabilizers.
